FIAL Connecting Aussie Suppliers with International Markets

FIAL recently led an Australian delegation of 35+ attendees from industry and government to Food and Hotel China (FHC), the largest specialist trade show for imported food and wines in China. At close to 100sqm, FIAL delivered the largest stand at the FHC 2017 Australian Pavilion, making a big impact during the exhibition.

FHC 2017 welcomed 91,301 trade visitors over three days, representing a record-breaking 40% increase in attendees in comparison to 2016. With 85,000sqm of space and 2,450 international exhibitors from more than 69 countries, FHC has become one of the leading tradeshows for international companies looking to introduce their products into the Chinese market. FHC is also designed to capitalise on the growing China food service industry.

We are delighted with the results of this year’s show - not only was there an increase in companies participating, but there was also an increase in the number of leads generated during the exhibition.

All samples were delivered in full and on time to the stand in Shanghai. Products included beer, chilled, frozen and ambient products that were shipped from all over Australia. This was the largest Australian food delegation that FIAL has hosted to date, with a total of 23 companies sampling their products at the exhibition and 34 companies showcasing their products on the stand.

The ‘Taste Australia’ FHC 2017 stand was a tremendous success. There was a total of 75 brands being represented on the stand, which included a mix of FMCG companies & SME’s. Some Australian companies at the exhibition successfully negotiated and secured first orders into China as a direct result of participating at the tradeshow.

Additionally, FIAL managed all freighting of samples and custom documentation for the show. FIAL also arranged the following activities in the FHC program:

  • A welcome dinner with Austrade’s China trade commissioner
  • A networking event with state government China representatives located in Shanghai
  • An insights & retail tour of top three premium supermarkets including a concept store.

We look forward to returning to Shanghai to showcase Australian suppliers at FHC’18. Participant numbers are limited and with a number of Australian exporters keen to secure a space, early registration is essential.
