The Market
Singapore is Australia’s largest trade and investment partner in the ASEAN region. This relationship is particularly strong for the food and agribusiness sector. Due to the limited land available for agriculture, Singapore imports over 90 per cent of the food consumed by its population of approximately 5.5 million people.
This has created ample opportunities for Australian food and agribusiness companies to export to Singapore. It is a great place for Australian businesses to begin their export journey as Singapore has no applicable tariffs or duties on food and agribusiness products.
Key sector opportunities exist in the following categories:
- Dairy
- Quality meats
- Seafood
- Functional/health food
- Organic food
- Private label
- Value-added products
